For Young Academics

The National Institute of Chemistry is intensively involved in education, working with Slovenian and international educational institutions. We provide training and education for undergraduate students and, above all, for students in specialist, master's and doctoral studies.

To undergraduates, we offer the possibility of scholarships and collaboration in preparing graduate dissertations and performing compulsory practical training. After receiving a first degree, you can find employment with us as an early stage researcher, and in cooperation with the industry, you can carry out part of your training as an early stage researcher from the industry.

This Year's Pregl Awards for Exceptional Doctoral Theses

The Pregl Awards for exceptional doctoral theses in the field of chemistry and related sciences were awarded at the pre-New Year's reception of the National Institute of Chemistry. The winners are Dr Tina Ukmar and Dr Boštjan Erjavec from the National Institute of Chemistry and Dr Tilen Praper from the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana.

The Slovenian Team Proves its Excellence Again by Winning MIT's Competition for Preparing a Cell Biosynthesis Assembly Line

Project participants included students of biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, biology, medicine and, as a first this year, also computer science. The team was mentored by researchers from the National Institute of Chemistry, the EN-FIST Centre of Excellence and the University of Ljubljana.
