BORUT BEUS: View
Borut Beus's exhibition entitled View at the National Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana confirms his commitment to the spiritual tradition of late modernism and to landscape with all its historical weight, as it plays an extremely important role in European painting. In some of his last works, Beus abandons colour and moves towards tonal, darkand light canvases, as if he had stumbled upon something that he wanted to define more clearly through a stronger contrast between the presence and absence of light. The only portrait that stands out in the exhibition is that of a child with only one eye. This also gives the title of the exhibition, "The View", a different undertone, in which the masterful reduction of the colour palette suggests that the concept of aesthetics is increasingly becoming an ethical one.
