MARUŠA ŠUŠTAR: »Umobežniki«, June 2017
On June 15, 2017, we opened an exhibition of works of art by Maruša Šuštar entitled "Umobežniki".
Maruša Šuštar graduated in 2006 and later received a master's degree in painting from prof. Gustav Gnamuš, all at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. She has also participated in a series of review exhibitions of contemporary Slovenian art, including the mention of Contemporary Slovenian Painting in Cankarjev dom and the Piran City Gallery (2014) and the exhibition Magic of Art - Protagonists of Slovenian Contemporary Art from 1968-2013 at Villa Manin in Passarian (2014), in Vienna (2015) and in Zagreb (2015). In 2009, she received the ESSL art award - a special invitation from the Vienna Insurance Group, and in 2014 the first ART MUSEUM for the painting work.
In her painting, she touches on extremely contemporary themes. In her work, we find both the direct relation to the problems that accompany our daily lives (eg refugee issues, brain drain, control, geopolitical shifts, etc.), as well as the relation to the so-called eternal issues that people have been dealing with since ancient times. and accompany us to virtually every room at all times (who we are, where we are going, why we are here, what is the point of our stay).
