VANJA MERVIČ: »PARALLELS«

Vanja Mervič (born 1973) studied art in Venice and Milan, and later continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana under Professor Srečo Dragan. He further developed his practice in Belgium, New Zealand, and Austria.

The current exhibition at the National Institute of Chemistry is conceived as a study-oriented project, an intriguing artistic experiment. Mervič freezes paints and then, while still frozen, brings them to room temperature. In this process, the layers of color transition from a solid to a liquid state and gradually spread across the painting surface.

Through this approach, in which the image is not painted but the final form emerges on its own, the artist opens up several parallel narratives that we will reflect upon together with him at the opening.

The exhibition will be on display until Novemeber 25, 2025.
