Peter Hergold was already attracted attention in his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana: his works already showed innovative solutions in the approach to art problems, which resulted in the Prešeren Student Award.
The Dalmatian paintings exhibition is the result of his conceptual "painting travelogues", which he combined with his otherwise conceptual work. These "travelogues" are, in contrast to most conceptual works of contemporary art, a true masterpiece of painting in the classical sense as well. These are watercolors, in which the stroke is quick and the application of paint is extremely difficult to "correct" afterwards.
