URŠULA BERLOT POMPE: Optical elasticity

Since her graduation, Prof Uršula Berlot Pompe has been working with light, translucency, visions of immateriality and feelings of sublime states, intuitive and often incongruous connections with nature. Hence the use of special materials, deriving from many fields where we encounter scientific endeavours to explain and even to see (glimpse) matter that we cannot even perceive in everyday life. Translucent materials, films, insights into neuro, micro or nano structures, the connection to light and to waves even in areas far below humanly perceptible wavelengths... All this is being put together in her cyclical works into a larger body of work of transitions through different approaches and different treatments in the actual making of artworks or we can say installations and processes (installations).

Uršula Berlot Pompe has exhibited in all the major galleries in Slovenia and has participated in group or solo exhibitions in Germany, Italy, has received many important awards (Jakopič Award, Schering Stiftung Award in Austria, Pollock- Krasner Foundation Award in the USA, etc.) and has been on many residencies (London, Berlin, Vienna). She is a multifaceted artist and art theorist (her book on Duchamp is an important contribution to the understanding of the modernist foundations for contemporary art), who is also engaged in teaching, as she is a full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana.

The exhibition will be on view until 7.7.2024.
