Hydrogen is a key technology for achieving Europe`s climate and energy goals.” (Maroš Šefčovič, Vide-President EC for Energy Union). The transport sector in Slovenia and Austria is completely dependent on fossil fuels. In order to achieve the EU's energy transition goals, it is essential to integrate the expertise of research centres and SMEs in support of the development of hydrogen technology. The main objective of the H₂GreenTECH project is to strengthen crossborder R&I capacaties in advanced hydrogen technologies by developing synergies between enterprises, R&D centers and higher education. Project address the crossborder challenge of fragmented R&R and great potential of the R&R of hydrogen technology in transport at the program area with this three specific aims:

  1. To improve better access and use of research infrastructure on hydrogen technologies in Slovenia and Austria with the establishment of One-stop-shop Hydrogen Center for enterprises, researches, and students, with clear strategy and action plan till 2025.

  2. To build-up of competences of enterprises, R&D centres and higher education with implementation of joint crossborder projects on hydrogen technologies with developing three demonstration models for the practical demonstration of the developed prototypes and educational module.

  3. To facilitate the crossborder cooperation among research institutions, enterprises and public administration with the development of the crossborder Roadmap on low-carbon technologies with the commitment to implementation and dissemination.

With the innovative approach of the quadruple helix, the inter-sectoral partnership establishes an urgently needed One-stop-shop Hydrogen Centre, which will give access to framework, research and analytical technologies that will stimulate the growth and development of the hydrogen technology sector in the Styria-Burgenland-Carinthia regions of Slovenia and Austria.

The project is based on a bottom-up approach, the only successful one with long-term effects. Improved innovation capacity of all stakeholders contributes to increased competitiveness for the programming area of ​​significant hydrogen technology.

Main results of H₂GreenTECH project are:

  1. Improved and effective support for better access and use of hydrogen technology research infrastructure for cross-border R&D centres, businesses and students.

  2. Enhanced competencies of enterprises, R & D centres and higher education centres through the implementation of joint cross-border R & D projects on hydrogen technologies.

  3. Facilitated cross-border cooperation between research institutes, enterprises and public administration to promote low-carbon technology innovation
