European Grant for Pregl Research Centre Construction
The Ministry of Economic Development and Technology has confirmed the investment in the construction of the Pregl Research Centre at the National Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana. The total project value is EUR 10.6 million, of which the European Regional Development Fund will contribute EUR 7.2 million. Thanks to this investment, the National Institute of Chemistry will be able to acquire a suitable space for conducting research and educational activities.
Researchers, Institute employees and Institute visitors will be able to take advantage of five brand new research laboratories. This will contribute significantly towards reducing the issues related to the lack of space in the existing facilities and enable the installation of new, top of the line research equipment.
The new research centre will be named after Slovenian-born chemist Friderik Pregl (1869-1930). Born in Ljubljana, Pregl was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1923.
