Ljubljana will host the 17th European Congress on Catalysis in 2027
At the meeting of the Council of the European Federation of Catalysis Societies (EFCATS), which took place on 17 July in Lyon, France, the candidacy of Slovenia and Austria to host the 17th European Congress of Catalysis (EuropaCat) in 2027 was confirmed. The candidature was successfully presented by Nataša Novak Tušar and Albin Pintar from the National Institute of Chemistry and Günther Rupprechter from the Vienna University of Technology (Austria).
The EuropaCat 2027 congress, the largest event in Europe in the field of catalysis, will take place from 29 August to 3 September 2027 at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana. The congress is organized by the Catalysis Section of the Slovenian Chemical Society and the Catalysis Section of the Austrian Chemical Society in close cooperation with the Congress Department of Cankarjev dom.
The congress is the most important event in Europe for the academic and research institutions as well as for companies active in the field of catalysis. More than 1,500 participants are expected to attend, providing an exceptional opportunity to exchange knowledge, network and present the latest achievements in the field.
The confirmation of the candidature is an important achievement for Slovenia, as the EuropaCat 2027 congress will be the largest event of its kind in the field of chemistry that Slovenia will organize. The organizers are convinced that the congress will make an excellent contribution to the development of science and technology in the region and strengthen Slovenia's international reputation as a centre of cutting-edge research.
"We are very happy and proud that we have been given the opportunity to organize such an important event. This is a recognition of our work and efforts in the field of catalysis," said Albin Pintar, President of the Catalysis Section at the Slovenian Chemical Society.
The EuropaCat 2027 congress will be an opportunity to bring together researchers and experts and promote the latest scientific achievements that will contribute to the further development of catalysis and its applications in various industrial fields, energy production and environmental protection.
