RTIT>> partners and SMEs meet for a training program and project meeting in Pécs
As part of the RTIT>> project, an SME training on sustainable construction took place in Pécs, Hungary, on March 4–5, 2026. The event took place at Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Pécs, bringing together project partners and SMEs from countries across the Danube Region. The training focused on practical solutions and emerging trends in construction, with sustainability, efficiency and material resilience being at the center of discussion. Seizing the opportunity, the partner also organized a meeting to review the progress of piloting activities and discuss all relevant aspects of project management.
Training for SMEs
The training organized by the Hungarian partners as part of their pilot covered the following topics:
Additive technologies in construction, including a demonstration of 3D-printed concrete;
Life cycle assessments of construction materials and approaches for measuring environmental impacts;
Materials for energy efficiency, durability and climate resilience;
Solutions for the recycling and end-of-life management of construction materials;
Utilization of natural and alternative materials, as well as biomimicry in modern construction.
Also included were study visits to relevant locations, opening space for further discussions about the applicability of solutions in local contexts.
Strengthening transnational cooperation
The gathering of partners and SMEs from the Danube Region further contributed to transnational cooperation and knowledge exchange, which was facilitated by examples from diverse research and industry environments. Such meetings play an important role in bringing together experts, identifying common challenges and developing ideas for future piloting activities.
To review the present state of piloting activities, project partners met on 6 March 2026 to assess the progress made so far, discuss pressing project management matters and develop a harmonized approach to implementing the rest of piloting activities by the end of June, when the project comes to an end.
The National Institute of Chemistry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia are carrying on with our national pilot, providing mentoring to local SMEs and sparking connections between industry and researchers scientists at various public research organizations across Slovenia
The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Danube Region Program.
