Holder of the national standard for the amount of substance/water (designated by the Metrological Institute of the Republic of Slovenia)

National institute of Chemistry, Department for Environmental Sciences and Engineering was on February 13, 2006 notified by Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Metrological Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, as holder of the standard in the scope of the national standard for the unit mol, area protection of environment, type of samples waste water and surface water. ( Link )

The National Institute of Chemistry, Department for Environmental Sciences and Engineering establishes traceability of its measurement results by reference measurements, where calibration of equipment is related to certified reference materials with demonstrated traceability to the primary level. Dissemination of the values is performed by interlaboratory comparisons, which are organized by the National Institute of Chemistry twice per year with over fifty participating laboratories from Slovenia. The National Institute of Chemistry, Department for Environmental Sciences and Engineering assures traceability of chemical measurements of waste waters and surface waters in the Republic of Slovenia by dissemination procedures. Organization of the interlaboratory comparison is based on chemical measurements in samples of waste water and surface water. A reference value for measurands, which forms a base for laboratories performance assessment, is beforehand determined by the Department for Environmental Sciences and Engineering, using the accredited reference measurements with established traceability and evaluated measurement uncertainty.
