Help to those affected by floods

WORK AND CHARITY ACTION

In order to join as an institution the nationwide call for help after the devastating floods, our staff participated in work activities and collected donations for those affected by the catastrophic water damage.

After devastating floods hit a large part of Slovenia in early August, the National Institute of Chemistry decided to help those affected by this natural disaster at least a little. On the initiative of motivated colleagues, we organised two voluntary work assignments.

On Friday, 11 August, equipped with brooms, shovels, boots and gloves, we joined the work action in Mengeš. There we helped clean the basement and garage spaces under a larger residential building and a shop in the city centre. On Monday 14 August, the day of solidarity proclaimed by the government to help with floods, we participated in a work action in Kamnik. We helped clean the flooded warehouses of one of the businesses there, where we removed and sorted the waste and removed the accumulated mud.

And not only with work actions, we also decided to help those who were harmed by the floods by collecting voluntary monetary donations. The staff contributed according to their means, and the Institute contributed an additional euro for every euro. We were able to collect a total of 18,750.00 euros. We decided to donate the collected amount to the municipality of Luče, which is one of the most devastated and affected areas after the August flood.
