Prof. Mojca Benčina received Zois recognition
Assoc. prof. dr. Mojca Benčina received the Zois Recognition for her outstanding achievements in the field of immunology and synthetic biology. Her field of research is molecular mechanisms of Toll-like receptor agonist recognition and synthetic biology. She identified the role of extracellular DNA in the activation of the TLR9 receptor and its associated inflammatory response, and the influence of synthetic DNA agonists on receptor function and the potential of use in a new generation of vaccines. Through a synthesis-biological approach, she has linked synthetic biology to biotechnology and has been involved in the preparation of synthetic DNA frameworks that enable the spatial and temporal organization of enzymes in living cells and of gene-encoded sensors for pH measurement in cells.
Congratulation!
