Is the Scientists4Future Slovenia PhD programme open to any applicant around the world?

Of course, whatever your nationality is, you can apply to S4FS PhD Programme. However, you have to respect some mobility rules which are described in the Guide for Applicants and require that you have not resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Slovenia for more than 12 months in the last 3 years before the call deadline, which is 15 May 2023.


Is there any age limit or restrictions to apply for the the Scientists4Future Slovenia PhD programme?

No, there is no restrictions on disability/special needs, gender, age, nationality, ethnicity, religion, social status, sexual orientation, etc. In addition, applicants who have had career interruptions due to maternity/parental leave (F/M), career break (or non-research related working periods), military service, or long illnesses are encouraged to apply.


How can I apply ?

You must register in the Programme website through Application platform and download the CV and declaration templates. Once you are registered and have completed the templates, you must fill in an online Application Form and upload the files that will be evaluated. All necessary documents are listed in Guide for Applicants and on the webpage under section Application process.

The applicant must also ensure that he/she complies with all the mobility rules & eligibility requirements set out and explained in the Guide for Applicants.


Is it possible to apply even if I won't get my Master's degree September 2023?



Can I apply for more than one topic?

No, only once application per candidate is accepted.


Is it possible to put my own CV (my format) or Europass CV?

Please use the CV template provided, but you can adapt it according to your needs.


What is the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Mobility Rule?

In order to be eligible for the Scientists4Future Slovenia PhD Programme, you must comply with the MSCA mobility rule for Doctoral Programmes.

It states that “Candidates may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary/partner organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline (15.5.2023).”


What is the Early-Stage Researcher (ESR) definition?

The candidates must comply with the ESR definition: "At the date of recruitment, candidates must be in the first four years of a full-time equivalent research experience".

Recommendations Letters must be from academic or industrial members?

Both, either academic or industrial recommendations are accepted.


My English proficiency test results is below the required score, can I still apply?

Yes, your application will be evaluated with this result.


I did my Master's degree in English, but I don't have a certificate of proficiency in English (or it is expired), can I still apply?

Yes, you must provide us with a certificate from your university stating that your master degree was in English.

 The evaluators prefer that you would submit an official certificate of an English Proficiency Test.

ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS - For awarded fellows

What is a Secondment Foreseen?

It is a moving to a place (Partner Institution or Company) where you will spend a 2-months period in the framework of your PhD thesis.


How to set up the working contract?

NIC will be in charge of drafting your working contract. The Scientists4Future SloveniaTeam ensures that the process runs well and guarantees that the European Charter is respected.


When can I start to apply for my VISA?

National Institute of Chemistry  will supervise and explain the process and give a list of documents to provide (letter of acceptance, certificates,...) to apply for a study visa in Slovenia.


What is the Mobility Allowance?

The Mobility Allowance corresponds to an additional grant assigned to the Awarded Fellow in order to cover students’ costs linked to the installation and initial travel. It will be monthly included into the net salary.


Do I have social coverage?

Your salary gives you social coverage (health insurance) as a basis. You will have the opportunity to subscribe for a complementary insurance.


When will I start my thesis?

The thesis is expected to start on October, 1st 2023.
