Open science
At the National Institute of Chemistry, we are approaching open science systematically and with a clear vision of its long-term benefits for scientific excellence, collaboration, and the societal impact of research. As part of our involvement in the SPOZNAJ project, we are committed to implementing open science principles at the institutional level, with a particular focus on open access to scientific publications and research data, the use of open-source tools, and transparency in research processes.
We are developing internal guidelines for research data management, conducting training for researchers and support staff, and actively building infrastructure to store and share data in accordance with the FAIR principles. At the level of research groups, we encourage the preparation
of Data Management Plans (DMPs) and the integration of open approaches already in the planning phase of research. We are also participating in national and European open science initiatives, which enhances the visibility and accessibility of the Institute’s research on the international stage.
We recognize that open science is not just a technical task, but a cultural shift. Therefore, we strive to integrate these principles into everyday research practice, mentoring, and research assessment. We believe that open science will contribute to greater integrity, innovation, and efficiency in our work, while also strengthening public trust in science.
