Multivalent interactions driving RNP dynamics in development and disease
Grant ID: 835300
Period: 1.1.2020 – 31.12.2024
Head: prof.dr. Jernej Ule
ERC project, entitled "RNP Dynamics", will study how the regulation of RNA molecules contributes to the development and functioning of the brain, and how errors in such regulation lead to neurodegenerative diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The studies will be based on techniques that identify cellular networks formed by proteins and RNA, which will generate a large amount of data. Such data will form the basis for computer analyses looking for changes in RNA networks, which are key for the development of the brain. The project will also study how errors in RNA networks can disrupt neuronal functions and thus trigger ALS. This will serve as the basis for developing new RNA-based therapeutic strategies.
