Bio-based decorative glass coatings

The decorative glass coatings market is mostly dominated by acrylic-based coatings. In combination with UV  curing, they allow for fast, highly efficient, and adaptable manufacture in small spaces, producing low amounts of volatile organic substances and little waste heat in the process. Despite these advantages, such coatings are frequently sourced from fossil fuels, inhibiting the sustainability of their production. Our technology offers a bio-based alternative.

The fossil-based components used in the manufacture of conventional coatings have been replaced with bio-based resources from agriculture and forestry. Also simplified is the process of pretreatment, reducing the environmental impact of manufacture and lowering the price of the end product. Lastly, our bio-based coatings boast desirable visual benefits, such as its matte finish and superior transparency compared to conventional coatings.

The key advantages of our technology include:

  • Cost-effective and adaptable manufacturing process, which ensures a high-quality feel and strikingly vibrant colors.

  • Mechanic and physical properties comparable to those of conventional glass coatings.

  • The formulation can also be utilized in other applications, such as additive manufacturing.
